I create lots of different styles and types of jewelry--though, a quick look around will show you what my favorite materials and techniques are: pearl knotting, chainmaille, glass fusing, metal clay, and polymer clay. How did I get started? Well... it's a bit of a story, really. I started playing with jewelry-making when I was very young. I learned to string glass seed beads, though I was never very good at it back then. The older I got, the better I got, but eventually life got in the way, and I put my hobby aside for many years. About 4 years ago, I picked it back up, and I learned some new tricks, too. I took a class on glass fusing, and I read book after book on chain-making after one inspired me. I applied my high-school ceramics knowledge to working with metal clay. And finally, I spent months perfecting the technique of knotting strands of pearls on silk.
I don't know about other jewelry-makers, but each piece of jewelry that I create has a story and a life all its own. Some of my pieces are inspired by music, things I see and experience in the world around me, and just about anything else you can probably think of. I share many of these stories on my jewelry blog. Most of the pieces featured on my blog are available for sale in my Etsy shop so, after you read the story, you may find that you can purchase that very piece of jewelry! Once you make a piece yours, its story continues with you.
I hope you will enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy creating them. If you do, please send me your stories or photos, and I may share them with others on my blog! ^_^
